The cross between a Roan Dark Brown stallion, whose coat the (Rn) gene acts on the base coat by distributing white hairs throughout the body, giving it a roan appearance. The head and legs retain the original base color tones. Dark brown coat, often nearly black, with black points, expressed over the bay base., and a Smoky Cream mare with coat very pale coat with yellowish highlights, resulting from double dilution of the cream gene over the black base., can produce 6 different coat colors: Roan Buckskin (30%), Buckskin (30%), Roan Smoky Black (14%), Smoky Black (14%), Roan Palomino (6%) and Palomino (6%).
