The cross between a Roan Chestnut stallion, whose coat the (Rn) gene acts on the base coat by distributing white hairs throughout the body, giving it a roan appearance. The head and legs retain the original base color tones. Base coat with a reddish body, mane and tail, with no black pigment., and a Smoky Cream mare with coat very pale coat with yellowish highlights, resulting from double dilution of the cream gene over the black base., can produce 6 different coat colors: Roan Buckskin (20%), Buckskin (20%), Roan Palomino (18%), Palomino (18%), Roan Smoky Black (13%) and Smoky Black (13%). Results vary according to the genotype of each parent — use the filters above to explore specific combinations.
