The cross between a Paint Dark Brown stallion, whose coat the (To) gene acts on the base coat forming large, well-defined white patches across the body and legs. Many cases also inherit blue eyes. Dark brown coat, often nearly black, with black points, expressed over the bay base., and a Chestnut mare with coat base coat with a reddish body, mane and tail, with no black pigment., can produce 8 different coat colors: Paint Bay (25%), Bay (25%), Paint Chestnut (18%), Chestnut (18%), Paint Black (4%), Black (4%), Paint Dark Brown (3%) and Dark Brown (3%).
