The cross between a Roan Dark Brown stallion, whose coat the (Rn) gene acts on the base coat by distributing white hairs throughout the body, giving it a roan appearance. The head and legs retain the original base color tones. Dark brown coat, often nearly black, with black points, expressed over the bay base., and a Bay mare with coat brown body with black mane, tail, lower legs and ear tips, due to the presence of black pigment restricted to the points by the Agouti gene., can produce 8 different coat colors: Roan Bay (33%), Bay (33%), Roan Chestnut (7%), Chestnut (7%), Roan Dark Brown (6%), Dark Brown (6%), Roan Black (4%) and Black (4%). Results vary according to the genotype of each parent — use the filters above to explore specific combinations.
