The cross between a Roan Chestnut stallion, whose coat the (Rn) gene acts on the base coat by distributing white hairs throughout the body, giving it a roan appearance. The head and legs retain the original base color tones. Base coat with a reddish body, mane and tail, with no black pigment., and a Perlino mare with coat cream coat with slightly reddish tones in the mane and tail, caused by double dilution of the cream gene over the bay base., can produce 6 different coat colors: Roan Buckskin (28%), Buckskin (28%), Roan Palomino (19%), Palomino (19%), Roan Smoky Black (4%) and Smoky Black (4%). Results vary according to the genotype of each parent — use the filters above to explore specific combinations.
