The cross between a Paint Bay stallion, whose coat the (To) gene acts on the base coat forming large, well-defined white patches across the body and legs. Many cases also inherit blue eyes. Brown body with black mane, tail, lower legs and ear tips, due to the presence of black pigment restricted to the points by the Agouti gene., and a Dark Brown mare with coat dark brown coat, often nearly black, with black points, expressed over the bay base., can produce 8 different coat colors: Paint Bay (33%), Bay (33%), Paint Chestnut (7%), Chestnut (7%), Paint Dark Brown (6%), Dark Brown (6%), Paint Black (4%) and Black (4%).
