The cross between a Chestnut stallion, whose coat base coat with a reddish body, mane and tail, with no black pigment., and a Roan Bay mare with coat the (Rn) gene acts on the base coat by distributing white hairs throughout the body, giving it a roan appearance. The head and legs retain the original base color tones. Brown body with black mane, tail, lower legs and ear tips, due to the presence of black pigment restricted to the points by the Agouti gene., can produce 8 different coat colors: Roan Bay (25%), Bay (25%), Roan Chestnut (19%), Chestnut (19%), Roan Black (4%), Black (4%), Roan Dark Brown (3%) and Dark Brown (3%).
