The cross between a Black stallion, whose coat entirely black coat, with no dilutions and no Agouti gene action restricting black pigment to the points., and a Paint Dark Brown mare with coat the (To) gene acts on the base coat forming large, well-defined white patches across the body and legs. Many cases also inherit blue eyes. Dark brown coat, often nearly black, with black points, expressed over the bay base., can produce 8 different coat colors: Paint Bay (27%), Bay (27%), Paint Black (14%), Black (14%), Paint Chestnut (6%), Chestnut (6%), Paint Dark Brown (3%) and Dark Brown (3%).
